In true Melbourne fashion, we’ve been delivered a whirl-wind of weather this year, from a 30+ degree heat wave in autumn to torrential rain and a cold spell in the middle of summer.
Talk about “what’s right is left and what’s left is right” – am I right!? Okay – I’ve confused myself.
You’re not a true Melbournian unless you are complaining about the weather. But it’s time to face the facts, winter has arrived which means open fires, red wine and, of course, our favourite winter indulgences.
Whether you are a carb-craver or lust for the sugary things in life, we’ve put together a list for you of our favourite comfort treats to keep us going through the coldest months of the year!
For the ‘fuss free’ cookers
If the dark trek home from the office or a long rainy day inside with the kids has you reaching for a bag of Doritos and a glass of red wine (or 3) for dinner (we’ve all been guilty of it), then keep on reading.
Whether you are too tired to cook or if you just plain hate it at the end of the day – reality is, you may be missing out arguably the most delicious meal of the day, and all the nutrients that come with it.
‘Fuss Free Cooking’ may have the answer to our problems…thank goodness!
Her Curry Pumpkin, Quinoa and Lentil Soup only has five steps!! That’s right, F-I-V-E steps.
Double the recipe and have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner…okay, maybe not breakfast.
Plus you can freeze it and have it next week when you feel yourself reaching for that packet of Doritos after a long day.

Food is one of life’s guilty pleasures, and when the Melbourne nightlife in winter is scarce, so too is the dating scene – we count on those satisfying indulgences.
When it’s Friday night after a long week spent at the office, at home with the kids or racking your brain for blog ideas – cooking dinner is well and truly off the cards!
‘The World Loves Melbourne’ has introduced us to the most satisfying winter comfort meal to drown out the busy week and prep us for the weekend.
‘The Ribs and Burgers Degustation’ at Ribs & Burgers features a selection of the best bits of the menu – including 2 burgers, fries and of course, what they are famous for, their succulent ribs!
Perfect when you can’t decide, or want everything on the menu…
The board is made to share – so, bring a friend to cosy up with to enjoy this winter warmer.

Something for the sweet tooth…
We all can appreciate the importance of a sweet tooth – some more so than others. Whether it’s a snack to get you through the morning or an after dinner treat by the fire with a glass of red, this recipe ticks all the boxes.
Peanut Butter is the latest craze when it comes to all things delicious and healthy! That is, unless you eat half the entire jar by yourself.
If you’re obsessed with chocolate, peanut butter and brownies on their own (we are here at Nuffnang) and you can’t decide between the three, there is a solution…
‘Create Make Bake’ has created the ultimate dessert – Peanut Butter and Chocolate Brownies (drool like Homer Simpson here).
Warning! You may be tempted to eat the entire tray.
